This resource is a PowerPoint that I print out and use as a work booklet. It is a Formal Art Elements work booklet, which can be used as an activity as part of learning about Formal Art Elements, as a stand alone project for substitute teaching or as an Initial Assessment task. The resource covers the Formal Art Elements: Texture Colour Line Tone Space Shape Form Pattern Students are require to show texture via frottage (rubbings), add primary and secondary colours, fill a box with different lines etc.

This is a resource I use for students that require Travel Training sessions. In order to develop transferable skills, students are required to plan journeys on public transport. This resource is a scenario where students can plan a trip to their local Odeon cinema. You just need to add the appropriate info (street names etc.) for your local area! It gives advice to students of things they need to consider when planning their journey. It also encourages budgeting skills.

Art and Design Curriculum Year Plan (I create a year plan first, to plan my year out before completing my Scheme of Learning). I like how you can see the whole year on one page :) The Year Plan can be put at the front of each students’ folder and the student can see where they’re up to too, ideal for SEN students who like to know what’s coming next! This Year Plan is for the academic year 2023-2024 and is easily adapted to suit your curriculum needs. The art curriculum incorporates a broad art curriculum of drawing, painting, collage, photography, sculpture and printing. This is a 1 page resource that includes an Art rubric that can be used as a self assessment by students completing an art course. It is easily adaptable to suit whatever art criteria you need. I used it with my students with Autism who were completing Art NOCN (National Open College Network) courses. It is a good way for students to visually see how they are progressing throughout their Art course and what criteria is still left to achieve.

This is a resource I use for SEN students who are completing Art sessions. At the beginning of the year, the students state what their Art EHCP goal is and how they will achieve it in sessions. This resource is then used to review progress and achievement half way through the year and again at the end of the year. (See accompanying Art EHCP goal set up sheet.)

This is an activity where students can list 6 conversations starters on the sheet, before writing them onto a cube net and creating a conversation starter dice. You could use it as a social skills activity during Travel Training sessions, where students are encourage to practice good social skills in the local community; or used as evidence towards the Rarpa, PfA - Preparing for Adulthood target of Friends, Relationships & Community Skills.

This is a 3 page resource where students can self assess their work after completing an art project. It asks students state the art movement, which formal art elements have been used, what went well, what would improve the work, the inspiration behind the art work and to add photographic evidence of the work. There is also an opportunity for tutors to provide feedback and what next steps are needed.

This is a 4 page resource can be used for students that require support in building social skills, such as students with Autism or Entry Level 1-3. Students can cut out the various listening skills and then sort them into good listening skills and poor listening skills and stick them under the appropriate headings. Example listening skills include: Interrupting as they are talking Looking at the person talking Yawning and telling them how bored you are This resource could be used for students completing a Travel Training course, as students are encouraged to work on their social skills when in the local community; or used as evidence towards the Rarpa, PfA - Preparing for Adulthood target of Friends, Relationships & Community Skills.

This is a resource I use with SEN students who require Travel Training sessions. It is a road safety self assessment that I get my students to complete when using road safety in the local community. It covers road safety when walking and using crossings.

This is an Initial Assessment that I use with SEN students who require Travel Training sessions. The student fills in the assessment to gauge what the students are/are not confident with in regards to travelling on public transport (buses and the Metro or Tube). This information can then be used to inform Travel Training session content. I usually get the students to redo the assessment later in the year to determine the progress made. Easily adapted from Metro to Tube if needed.
